They mentioned they were out of the model S012 that I ordered, so they shipped me the Hawk instead. They agreed to throw in a set of blades for the smaller price tag distinction. I finally got the heli after four weeks.... Essentially wasn't completely satisfied with turn around time with this seller, but once again what are you going to do when you have currently paid? Buyer Evaluations

I ordered an S031G Jumbo helicopter by Syma at the end of 2010 and flew it about six times just before hanging it in a tree and smoking (literally) the circuit board and rear motor that drives the lower rotor. The offending component on the circuit board (STD150NH02L-1 MOSFET) would have been easy to replace, but it is not available from the widespread electronics suppliers in quantities below 3000. Soooo, I am obtaining parts from the hobby-estore for my rebuild.
This copter is honestly rather sizeable and I do not feel a typical 14 year old (advised age) would get substantially out of it ahead of crashing it badly and rendering it unusable. That mentioned, it could make an outstanding learning tool for troubleshooting harm and repairing the device to functional status. This is a wonderful way to learn some mechanical and electronic repair abilities.
On my initially flight, I was doing superbly till I flew too close to a power line and the copter cut out and plunged about 30' to the ground. It received a crack in the head cover and one of the tabs for connecting the head cover to the base broke off. Some electrician's tape and hot glue and I was back flying in about 10 minutes. I had an additional cut-out at about 30' height on about the fourth flight which did far more harm to the base and head cover, but the copter kept going. The actual disaster came on about the sixth flight when I was flying at tree-best height and a breeze came up and wafted the copter into a tree best. Now, I am to blame mainly because I had changed the copter balance with a Mini DV video camera I had taped to the copter which causes the copter to lose a fair amount of forward power. I could not drive the copter difficult adequate into the breeze to get away from the tree and I got stuck up there. Even without having my camera, I would not recomend flying this copter in any wind if you can feel it. It will "fly like the wind" and crash someplace downwind.
Now Here IS THE Necessary Component. I attempted to use the transmitter to wiggle the rotors on the copter to dislodge it from the tree. However, the electronics on the copter have no load capacity beyond driving the rotors in totally free air. The rear motor overheated and the load on the STD150NH02L-1 MOSFET on the circuit board triggered the component to fry. The rear motor got so hot that the wire leads to the tail motor and rear LED's melted and stuck to the motor. The power connection to the rear motor got so hot it melted the solder on the circuit board! The lengthy and short of this is DO NOT DRIVE THE MOTORS OF THIS COPTER IF THEY ARE CONTACTING Something! If you get hung in a tree, tie a three/4" nut to some light poly bailing twine and use a sling shot to lob the nut and string more than the branches above the copter. Collect each ends of the twine and yank tough and repeatedly until you shake the copter out of the tree. This worked quite nicely for me.
As for contacting your body, this factor can honestly give you a whack. I have not broken my skin with it, but have given myself some nasty hits by accidentally engaging the transmitter even though carrying the copter for a re-launch. Little youngsters and pets could be injured, specially if hit in the eyes. My wife prohibits me from even turning it on in the house. You certainly could do some damage inside with it (not to mention the copter).
I would advocate this item to any person looking to get into radio manage model aircraft flying. Remain away from radio interference and give yourself LOTS of maneuvering room. A football field can not even be large adequate the very first couple of times out. If you want to take some air photographs when you know your copter, get a MINI DV camera and tape it to it. You'll require solid daylight for great video, but I a fully impressed by what this tiny camera can do.
Given its size (about two feet lengthy), this copter has significantly alot more momentum than the mini copters like its tiny cousin the S107G. Every little thing about the motion of the S031G is multiplied by at least the scale aspect from the S107G. Go slow to get started and not as well high until you get the hang of it and you will be crashing into trees and buildings and getting spare components in no time

Good RC Helicopter. Superior flying outdoors with no wind. But too extended to fly indoors. You should decide on a really clean area for indoor flying. I got a blade broken trying to fly in a narrow space. I do not advocate it for newbies like me. Much better starting with small ones (Syma 032 or Helizone Firebird). Battery life is decent and motors have plenty of power. but I will replace battery with a 11.1 volts 1.

The Phantom 6010 is the 1 indoor mini RC Heli for 2010.
IMO much better then the Syma S107 given that:
When trimmed it hovers hands no cost in contrast to the Syma which has a spring loaded lift control toggle, that you should keep your thumb on at all instances
It is lighter weight giving you longer flying time of 10-12 minutes vs 7-ten min for the Syma
Recharge time is shorter then the Syma, 20-25 minutes vs 40-50 minutes and
Flyes faster then the Syma through the "Turbo" button which increases tail motor RPM giving higher angle of attack and therefore greater forward speed.
Like the Syma the 6010 attributes metal frame, ion battery, two counter rotating blades and gyro. Both helis can take alot of abuse and spare parts are offered. Each can be charged via USB cable or from the controller.
The Syma S107 is an remarkable mini RC heli, but in 2010 IMO it is 2 just behind the 6010 for the factors listed above. You can't go incorrect with either of these RC toys. Awesome fun correct out of the box. Appreciate.

My kids were in China and picked up a single of these for me. I have been attempting to fly helicopters for over a quarter century with no luck. Big RC jobs to little foam ones. A crash just about every time. I can fly RC airplanes with the most effective of them, but copters eluded me.
I had good results perfect out of the box with this 1. The gyro tends to make the copter heading as steady as a rock. I'm pleased that I can finaly fly the issues. Flight occasions are about 10 minutes.
Couple of points to preserve in mind.
A. It's only for indoors, in a room that is mostly open.
B. It takes a tiny time to master the height when flying. A extremely light touch is all that is needed.
C. I've crashed a few occasions, but nothing broke.
D. This is an critical note..There are lots of locations on the Web to uncover replacement components if required.
