Buyer Reviews
Let's start off by saying that this is the initially outdoor RC helicopter I've owned. Having said that I have a compact fleet of indoor RC's, such as 3 S107G's which is what the S031G is modeled immediately after. The gyro is unbelievable, as is the super very easy trim dial. Despite the reality that I broke the upper blade grip the first time out (hit the only metal light pole in 1000ft radius), I'd say this is a Pretty durable little machine. The primary rotor blades are strong -- too robust. My neighborhood hobby guy had the component in stock. In spite of this, whilst examining it he noticed that I have the old style battery rather than the new LiPo battery which explains the 75 - 90 min. charging time. The new LiPo is 1 of the improvements supposedly made to the "G" model. At least I still get an honest 10-15 minutes per charge. Speaking of "power" the S031G is incredibly underpowered by design, when facing even the slightest headwind. It's got OK lift, but the horizontal tail rotor blade is also tiny or desires to be entirely redesigned. I am NOT talking about gusty ten-15 mph winds, mind you, I'm talking about breezes, perhaps five-7 mph. Lift is very good but I identified that hand launching drastically increased my flying time. When in the air applying the power to move against slight headwinds will get you into difficulty if you do not have enough practice. The S031G likes to fly high -- and it will if you aren't cautious. I attempt not to exceed 20ft due to the fact of the forward thrust difficulty. Then again, I've gotten it nicely over 150ft when I realized I could be in trouble and panicked, cut the power too significantly, and nonetheless landed ideal on the skids. I would honestly like to see a redesigned version of this model that supplies sufficient forward thrust for common flying circumstances. I really feel the S031G is a helicopter with a lot of potential, but falls short mainly because of it's inability to fly adequately in most useable circumstances. I'd certain really like to fly it in a significant empty warehouse!
Really solid piece of flying equipment. The gyro method is top-notch and only calls for Rather minor trimming out of the box! Maiden flight was in a tiny kitchen location and stuck the landing perfectly! This model is the absolute, by far, the preferred I've utilised for novice / advanced-beginner education. With such stable flight, you can genuinely place the craft by way of the paces and focus much less on over- / below-controlling the flight path. Pros: stabilized elevation stick, durable heli physique with forgiving rotors, effortless to set up and start flying, really responsive to all stick movements, Really inexpensive replacement parts are obtainable, and can move rather rapidly when placed in the tail rotor 'boost' mode. Cons: wish it had the 4th channel for even additional advanced coaching just short of moving to single-rotor equipment. Overall - could not be happier!
