Customer Critiques

I have some of the same feelings as "D. Hull" in his evaluation. I had generally wanted a RC helicopter, but found them to be too pricey until not too long ago. And then I located the Spy Hawk RC LT-711 RC helicopter. When I purchased this, I believed the built in digital camera with mini-SD card that can be activated by way of remote was a genius notion. It was a sleek looking helicopter with a camera, lights, and the cost was excellent. It looked also good to be true...and it was. Right here are my observations from my expertise in the couple of days I have had this.
1) The instruction manual is the worst one particular I have ever seen...EVER. It was written in broken English and is riddled with grammatical errors and other statements that just make no sense. To begin with, it is a compact leaflet with eight pages, two of which are photos of spare components (but, of course, there is no instructions on how to essentially replace any parts ought to something break). Where's the rest? This manual is awfully skimpy for a RC helicopter with a camera. Here are a handful of gems, but there are lots a lot more. I am not making use of poor grammar right here. These are direct quotes from the instruction manual:
-"Discover: When the airplane is away from the ground in 30cm position, the helicopter will suffer by itself blade vortex to develop into unstable, we contact it 'effect response', when the helicopter height lower, and the 'effect response' have an effect on will be larger."
-"Notice: When the indicator of the controller is sparkle, which shows the controller is lack of power. And you can transform some batteries for it."
There are also components labeled in the instruction manual in which there is no explanation or instruction provided, such as the "voltage indicator" on the remote and "2 speed mode" button. How do these operate? Who knows? The instruction manual doesn't tell you.
The instruction manual also indicates this helicopter is for ages 14+, but the box clearly says ages 8+. This sort of discrepancy need to in no way exist, but in my personal opinion, I would not give this to an eight year old.
2) The digital camera does not operate reliably. I got it to record a few seconds of test video, but immediately after putting the mini SD card back in the helicopter, it only recorded a blank file. For every single five of 6 blank files it would record, the camera would really record 1 video, only to go back to generating blank files.
three) Battery capacity is inconsistent. The instruction manual says "Do not charge over 60-70 minutes". To me, that signifies just after 70 minutes of charging and then unplug it from the charger. Right? Will failure to do so harm the battery? I don't know. Once again, the instruction manual doesn't say. There is an indicator light that goes from red to green when the battery is completed charging. One particular time, it showed it was charged soon after about 70 to 75 minutes of charging. The result? The helicopter's battery provided about two minutes of flying time. The following charge, it took two hours until the battery indicated it was charged. That time, the helicopter flew for about one particular minute, but couldn't be controlled in the air. The propellers would just spin and the helicopter wouldn't get off the ground again immediately after I landed it.
3) The helicopter is incredibly tough to manage outside. It was a sunny day, 54 degrees and no wind. Forward and reverse controls did little to control the movement of the helicopter.
I have followed what small instructions had been supplied and haven't crashed the helicopter in the small time it in fact flew. But following only a few flights, it isn't recording video, has an inconsistent and unreliable battery charging system and battery capacity. And, worse however, the helicopter now won't even get off the ground.
If this had been a trustworthy item that did what was advertised and had a way more thorough and understandable instruction manual, I would be pleased to personal this helicopter and recommend it to other individuals.
I will be returning this helicopter and I welcome anyone's ideas for a more trustworthy item.

This small toy was quite satisfying. It did what was advertised and then some significantly more. Don't be concerned about the instruction mannual. If you have any capacity to read in between the lines you can figure out the mannual. Essentially it was somewhat entertaining. The helicopter is really durable as it has crashed a number of occasions and comes back for even more abuse. Do not fly it outside if there is any wind. The video camera is remarkable and runs for as long as the helicopter is flying which lasts for 5 minutes or far more. The top quality of the video is much better than was expected. I paid $104 plus shipping of $38 due to Christmas deadline but have observed it discounted at Frys for $70. Have fun!
